Becoming a CFS or SES Volunteer

Emergency service volunteers come from all walks of life but share one common goal which is to help others in times of need.

Emergency service volunteers carry out a range of different roles. These include:

  • Conducting searches
  • Fighting fires
  • Operating radios
  • Providing administrative support
  • Helping contain chemical spills
  • Dealing with storm and flood damage
  • Road crash rescue
  • Marine rescue
  • Providing support to the Metropolitan Fire Service, South Australian Ambulance Service and South Australian Police

As a volunteer with the emergency services you are provided with the necessary training and equipment to carry out your role. Other benefits include:
