Innovative Technologies in Training Conference |
|||||
The information and communication technologies available in today's world provide both challenges and opportunities for training in the fire and emergency services sector. The new technologies are complex and there are multiple platforms available - mobile internet, social networking and virtual worlds to name just a few. The greatest challenge, and opportunity, is to re-think classroom delivery and the type of learning opportunities these technologies provide. It provides trainers with the opportunity to shift learning out of the classroom and direct to the student. This enables students to learn in a way that works best for them. To increase awareness of these technologies, and address the opportunities and challenges they provide for the sector, SAFECOM sponsored a conference on 29 January titled 'Innovative Technologies for Training'. The conference highlighted four innovative technologies, with presentations provided by Adelaide-based experts:
The conference was attended by 33 representatives from CFS, MFS, SES, SAPOL, Attorney General's Department and the Courts Administration Authority.
