Emergency Services Library

The SAFECOM sector has a number of hidden treasures, with many of these providing valuable lessons from our past and the experiences of others, both here in Australia, and overseas.

One of these treasures is the Emergency Services Library.

Located at MFS Angle Park, this valuable asset houses over 2,000 books, 600 videos, 41 journal titles (which number over 8,000 issues) and many useful resources available to all Emergency Services staff and volunteers. By contacting Trevor Ward at the Library on 8243 6526, the required resource can be booked and despatched promptly to any of our locations across the State.

All SAFECOM Library resources have also now been catalogued and can be searched by those staff who have access to the new information management system (Objective).

Amongst the resources held at the Library, are hard to get issues, special runs and out of print publications on all Emergency Services related matters as well as up-to-date resources on management, OHS&W and other non-operational subjects. Complementing these is a range of regular publications relating to our business.

The Library also subscribes to a range of services including the Australian Standards so that information can be made available to all agencies at the lowest possible cost and at no cost to the borrower. Trevor can also search for - and source - specific publications or materials for ESO staff, including accessing books and resources from other libraries if required.

Our connection with the Australasian Libraries In the Emergency Sector (ALIES) ALIES National Library also enables us to have access to yet another range of resources to supplement our own.

For any enquiries or assistance please contact Trevor Ward by email or on 08 8243 6526.
