Chief Executive

Hannah Wandel OAM is the Chief Executive of the South Australian Fire and Emergency Services Commission (SAFECOM), commencing January 2026.

Hannah brings extensive senior executive experience across emergency management, disaster resilience and public sector governance, with leadership experience spanning the public, corporate and not-for-profit sectors. Prior to joining SAFECOM, she held senior roles at the National Emergency Management Agency, leading preparedness, recovery and resilience initiatives.

A proud South Australian, Hannah is recognised for her collaborative leadership and commitment to improving outcomes for disaster-impacted communities. She was awarded the Order of Australia Medal for her contribution to public administration and community service.
